After a few warmer vintages in a row, this season’s harvest has been a welcome return to a ‘typical’ Adelaide Hills cool climate growing season. Coupled with healthy yields in the vineyards, the 2–3 week gap between picking of white and red varieties has been welcomed in the winery.
Whilst it has not been a particularly wet season, the timing of rainfall was perfect for keeping canopies lush and green ensuring that Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay were beautifully balanced with vibrant acidity and our Shiraz will reach the desired ripeness before we harvested the week following Easter. This was quite timely as it was the week of World Parkinson’s Day!
